Mall Fixed After 2016 Earthquake Falls Again

A mall in Kumamoto, Japan, had been rebuilt after the 2016 earthquake. On July 28, 2026, its second floor collapsed again. Police told Japan's NHK news that about 20–30 people are missing. A building thought to be strengthened against earthquakes failing under a similar one raises serious questions about safety rules.
