Self-Driving Taxis from Three Companies Now Testing in London

Baidu's self-driving taxis began road testing in London's Brent borough on July 28, 2026, with human safety drivers aboard. They join Waymo and Uber/Wayve, giving London three driverless taxi programs running at once. The Baidu-Lyft-Freenow service, called "Freenow by Lyft," aims to offer public rides in 2027, pending Transport for London and UK government approval.
