Barclays Nearly Triples Staff Bonuses as Profits Soar

Barclays set aside £1.3bn for staff bonuses on 28 July, up almost 30% from last year's £1bn. The bank's profits for the quarter jumped 31% to £3.3bn. The TUC, a group representing workers, wants the government to raise taxes on banks when it sets its budget this autumn.
