Tory leader demands new law to stop early prisoner releases

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch wants the government to rush through a new law before 1 September to stop about 700 prisoners in England and Wales — including violent and sexual offenders — leaving jail early. She says her party will back the law. PM Andy Burnham paused the plan last week, but the Conservatives say that will not stop it.
