Romania Shoots Down Russian Drones — a First for NATO

Romania's fighter jets shot down three drones of Russian origin over three straight days in July 2026. The first, on July 24, was the first time any NATO country destroyed a drone entering its own skies. Romania's president called the violations unacceptable and summoned Russia's ambassador on July 26.
