Most of Burnham's top team went to Oxford or Cambridge
Over half of Andy Burnham's cabinet ministers went to Oxford or Cambridge — two of the UK's most prestigious universities. That's nearly double the 29% under Keir Starmer, per Guardian analysis (July 26, 2026). Only about 1% of Britons attend either. Sociologist Sam Friedman found pupils from the nine poshest private schools are 52 times more likely to reach elite roles than other pupils.
