ACT wants deer treated as a resource, not a pest

ACT wants a law change so deer and game birds are classed as "natural resources" to look after, instead of pests to control. Deputy leader Nicole McKee announced the policy at the Hunting & Wildlife Expo on 25 July 2026. Conservation spokesperson Cameron Luxton said hunting groups already do hundreds of hours of conservation work.
