
US not building submarines fast enough — Australia's AUKUS plan at risk
The US admitted in late July 2026 it's still building attack submarines at just over one a year — well short of the two-a-year goal. That goal won't be reached until the 2030s, according to Adm. Caudle. That's exactly when Australia is supposed to get its first one under the AUKUS pact. The timeline is now in serious doubt.
