
Companies Sue U.S. Government Over $50 Billion in Unpaid Refunds
The government collected tariffs under emergency powers that the Supreme Court later ruled unlawful. Importers are owed refunds, but the agency handling them has paid out only $71 billion of $121 billion accepted. Carmaker Rivian sued on July 23, 2026, demanding repayment with interest. Other companies may follow as the unpaid balance grows.
