US Soldier Dies While Disarming Iranian Drone Bomb in Iraq; 17 American Deaths in War So Far

A US soldier died July 18 in northern Iraq while trying to safely destroy a bomb left inside a downed Iranian drone, the US military announced. Another soldier was slightly hurt. This brings American deaths to 17 since the US-Israel war on Iran began February 28, 2026.
