NZ First promises $1 billion to search for offshore oil and gas

At NZ First's campaign launch in Auckland, Winston Peters promised $1 billion to search the seabed around New Zealand for oil and gas. He said a major find was very likely and the country could have its own supply within six years. Peters also wanted companies to pay over half their profits to the government and a savings fund like Norway's.
