US Government Lifts TikTok Ban on Federal Devices

Federal employees can download TikTok on government devices again, the DOJ announced July 17, 2026, ending a 2022 ban. The department said TikTok no longer poses a national security risk, pointing to a deal where Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX oversee security while TikTok's Chinese parent company keeps a 19.9% ownership stake.
