Britain's three main north-south train lines face July disruption

All three of Britain's main north-south train lines face major disruption in July 2026. East Midlands Railway is cutting about 20 fast trains daily because of train faults. Meanwhile, a drivers' union is voting on strikes at LNER — where the government blocked an agreed pay rise — and Avanti West Coast. Drivers could walk out by late August.
