Philippines Complains to China Over Racist AI Video

The Philippines filed an official complaint with China after Chinese government media used artificial intelligence to create a video showing Filipinos as monkeys, The New York Times reported on July 17, 2026. The Philippines called the video racist. It is one of the first times AI-made content from a government media outlet caused a formal complaint between two countries.
