UAE Jobs Grew in Early 2026, but Migrant Workers Hit Hardest by Layoffs

The UAE reported 2.5% workforce growth in early 2026 with strong hiring (Gulf News, May 18). But the New York Times said July 17 that Dubai's low-paid migrant workers in hotels and shops face growing layoffs and pay cuts as the Iran war hurts the local economy. The overall numbers hide that these workers, who lack savings or options to leave, bear the worst of it.
