About 1.2 million South Korean everyday investors got a margin call during July's crash across Asian markets, MarketWatch reported July 17. That's more than 3% of the country's adults — an unusually large number. A margin call is like a bank demanding you repay borrowed money immediately: you must add cash or sell investments whose value has dropped.
