More people on the dole, but more also finding work

About 218,500 people were getting the Jobseeker benefit in June 2026, up 2,500 from a year earlier. Minister Louise Upston said 86,544 people came off benefits because they found work, up 5,772. Labour's Willow-Jean Prime said nearly 30,000 more people are on Jobseeker than when the government aimed to cut 50,000.
