FDA May Soon Make It Easier to Sell Blood Pressure Rings and Other Cuff-Free Wearables

The FDA started writing looser rules in January 2026 for wearable devices that measure blood pressure without the traditional arm cuff, using light-based sensors instead. Vital Signals, founded by former Android engineer Tom Moss, is seeking approval for its $399 Signal Ring, ultimately aiming to work with health insurers on preventative care.
