World's Largest Chipmaker Pledges $100 Billion More to Build in America
TSMC, the world's biggest maker of computer chips, will invest $100 billion more in the US. CEO C.C. Wei said this will fund three factories that make chips and two facilities that package them — like putting the finishing touches on a product before it ships. Eight similar sites are already underway. Wei gave no timeline, citing "market situation." Commerce Secretary Lutnick confirmed the figure. The pledge was first announced at the White House in March 2025.
