
Thames Water Faces Government Takeover as Debts Spiral
Thames Water, which supplies water to 16 million people around London, says it can survive until the end of 2026. But its debt jumped from £16.8bn to £18.5bn in one year. The company is trying to negotiate a rescue deal with investors and regulators. The government rejected a £10bn private rescue plan and appears to favor taking over the company instead.
