LA Police Pause Use of Street Cameras Over Data Safety

Los Angeles has shut down 138 cameras that read license plates on streets, operated by a company called Flock Safety, over concerns the company isn't protecting recorded data securely enough. Other police departments across California may make the same choice, since state law restricts how police can share that information.
