LAPD stops using camera system that reads license plates

Los Angeles Police Department has ended its contract with Flock Safety, a company that reads license plate numbers from street cameras. The police department and Flock could not agree on who would own and control the data collected—a critical issue for privacy advocates. Two other California cities have also quit the service over similar concerns.
