Proton's main login system goes down, blocking email, VPN, password storage, and digital wallet

Proton experienced an outage on July 10, 2026, at 15:35 CEST that locked users out of email, VPN, password storage, digital wallet, and several other services simultaneously. The problem stemmed from a failure in the central login system that all these apps rely on, like a master key that opens multiple doors at once. When it failed, everything went dark together. As of 15:42 CEST, the company's teams were still investigating.
