Federal Government Warns States About Noncitizens on Voter Lists

The Justice Department sent letters to all 50 states warning that election officials could face criminal charges for keeping noncitizens registered to vote. Officials have five days to respond. Noncitizen voting is already illegal and violations are uncommon, yet the government provided no evidence of widespread problems.
