Discord Mistakenly Banned Thousands of Users Through Automated System

Discord's automated safety system permanently banned over 8,000 users between May and July 2026 without letting human staff review the decisions. The system wrongly flagged harmless images like spreadsheets and game boards. Discord has restored the accounts and says it will improve, but hasn't explained why humans didn't catch the error or how long it went unnoticed.
