GM Wants to Design New Cars in Two Years Using AI

General Motors wants to develop new vehicles in two years instead of four or five, using AI and a method it calls "digital thread virtualization." That method links design and engineering data in one shared computer model. GM announced the goal on October 21, 2026, at its Onward event. It is a target, not a finished program.
