DC's Fourth of July Fireworks Made the Air Unhealthy Across the Whole City

Every air quality monitor across DC registered unhealthy pollution levels after the July 4 fireworks show. Smoke particles spiked to nearly seven times their normal amount, peaking at 4am as winds spread the haze citywide overnight. Because 850,000 fireworks launched from ten different sites, unhealthy air showed up everywhere, not just near the explosions.
