Federal Workers' Unions Protest New Office-Days Rule

Three unions representing federal government employees held protests July 6 as a new rule took effect requiring workers to spend four days a week in the office. The unions say the government has not shown the policy actually helps get work done or serve Canadians better. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said it was necessary but did not address the unions' point that employees often work remotely even when physically in the office.
