Massive Storms Back-to-Back Could Overwhelm Southern China

An enormous typhoon with winds near 180 mph is heading to eastern China by July 9. The previous storm killed two people, forced 48,000 to evacuate, and broke through three dams. The ground is already soaked and drainage systems are struggling. Heavy rains will hit before the next storm arrives, affecting 150 million people. China activated its highest emergency alert level.
