Trump administration removes deportation protection for people married to U.S. citizens

The Trump administration has reversed a long-standing practice that protected immigrants married to U.S. citizens from being deported. A USCIS official told NPR on July 6 that a pending marriage visa application no longer stops deportation. The change also pauses visas from 75 countries and requires tougher interviews. Around 1.4 million immigrants now face possible deportation.
