Higher Prices Pulled Stocks Down on Oct. 14

U.S. stocks had their worst day since July on Oct. 14, Barron's reported. The S&P 500, a basket of big companies, fell 0.3%; the Nasdaq, mostly tech stocks, fell 0.4%. Everyday prices rose 0.6% in a month, Bloomberg reported, making investors expect America's central bank to keep borrowing costs high. One report pinches borrowers; it doesn't prove a trend.
