Fujimori Declared Winner in Peru's Closest Election, But Opponent Won't Accept It

Peru's election officials announced Keiko Fujimori as president on July 3, winning by the thinnest of margins: 50.135% to her opponent Roberto Sánchez's 49.865%. Her opponent's party immediately challenged the result, claiming the election was "seriously compromised," though they haven't yet explained how. The legal fight will continue up to her swearing-in on July 28. This is Fujimori's fourth campaign; she lost three times before.
