13 Turtles Go Home to Their Pond Again

Thirteen turtles are home again in New South Wales. Ten broad-shelled and three Murray River turtles returned to the Gingham pond in the Gwydir Wetlands in late September 2026 after healing at Taronga Zoo Dubbo. They were saved in April after agency WaterNSW stopped water releases, which resumed under a May law on legal responsibility and refilled the pond.
