Asylum seekers told they must help pay for their housing

The Home Office said on 30 June that asylum seekers with money must pay toward their accommodation. It works like other public benefits that check how much you earn. The government hasn't said how it will check what people own or how much money it will collect. Asylum seekers currently get £8.86 to £49.18 weekly — very little — so few may be able to pay.
