WhatsApp Now Lets You Hide Your Phone Number

WhatsApp is rolling out usernames starting June 29, 2026. Instead of sharing your phone number to let someone message you, you'll share a username—like a handle. Your phone number stays in the background, but people no longer need it to reach you. This is a first for WhatsApp after 16 years. Other apps like Telegram already work this way.
