Catholic Church in San Francisco Pays $395 Million to Abuse Survivors
The Catholic Church in San Francisco agreed June 29 to pay $395 million to roughly 530 people who were abused by priests. That's about $745,000 per person on average. The church leader will write personal apology letters to each survivor. The deal needs court approval before money changes hands. Survivors can also pursue more money from the church's insurance companies.
