On 7 October, world health chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said it lacks data to judge the death of Darya Shipilova, 28, a worker at Irkutsk lab that studies dangerous plague. She died two days after cold-like symptoms. Russia blames pneumonia, a lung illness, of unknown cause. Tedros asked for open sharing to settle conflicting reports, including a possible second illness.
