Queensland Faces Persistent Problem With Domestic Violence Deaths

Queensland recorded 27 deaths from domestic violence in 2024-25, among the highest rates in Australia. A June 2026 shooting death of a 23-year-old woman in Biggera Waters is being investigated as a domestic violence case. Despite government programs offering emergency housing and counseling for abusers, the deaths continue.
