Two Massive Earthquakes Hit Venezuela One After the Other

Two powerful earthquakes struck northwestern Venezuela on June 24, just seconds apart. The first measured 7.2, the second 7.5—both centered 160 kilometers west of Caracas. Buildings already cracked by the first quake couldn't withstand the second. Thousands became trapped under collapsed structures across the capital and nearby cities.
