Dutch Royal Family Supported Slavery for Hundreds of Years, Study Says
Researchers at Leiden University say the Dutch royal family supported colonies and slavery for hundreds of years and shares blame for slavery lasting. The three-year report, asked for by King Willem-Alexander and shared Oct. 2, 2026, found kings and queens rarely made the rules but rarely spoke against slavery. It comes after government and royal apologies in 2022 and 2023.
