Two severe earthquakes hit northwestern Venezuela on June 24. The death toll climbed from 32 to at least 920 in just two days, with hundreds still unaccounted for and over 3,300 injured. Scientists say this is the deadliest earthquake Venezuela has experienced in recorded history, worse than a 1967 quake in Caracas that killed several hundred.
