UK's Highest Heat Alert Issued as Temperature Records Near Breaking Point
Britain issued its most severe heat warning on 22 June for parts of England and Wales, expecting temperatures to exceed the June record of 35.6°C (96°F). This top-level alert means widespread harm to people, hospitals, and power supplies is almost certain. The extreme heat persisted through 26 June with no relief in sight, following similar record-breaking temperatures across continental Europe.
