Iran Orders Ships to Follow New Routes Through Critical Oil Passage

Iran's military navy issued an order on 25 June 2026 requiring ships to use Iran-approved corridors through the Strait of Hormuz or lose access to the waterway. This chokepoint moves about one-fifth of the world's oil. The demand forces shippers to obey Iran's routes or pay much more for insurance and risk damage to their vessels.
