Judge Throws Out Claims That Google's AI Answers Are Unfair

Judge Amit Mehta threw out unfair-competition lawsuits by Penske Media and Chegg against Google's AI Overviews, the AI answers atop search. Although he ruled in 2024 that Google dominates search, like one store running a town, that alone did not prove wrongdoing. The publishers said Google reused their work and drew away ad-paying readers, but their case was too weak.
