African countries move fast to control their own AI power

South Africa launched a plan in September to unite Africa's 54 nations on building their own AI systems and rules. The real prize: keeping control of African data and computing power, rather than letting foreign tech companies own it. Microsoft and others are already investing heavily. African leaders want to negotiate together so they don't end up trapped the way they were with older technologies.
