Google Nest Cameras Can Now Recognize You Even When Your Face Isn't Visible

Google updated its Nest cameras on June 23, 2026, to identify household members by their clothing, walking style, and body shape when facial recognition doesn't work—such as when someone's back is to the camera or the lighting is poor. Previously, these situations triggered generic motion alerts. Google hasn't disclosed how often the system makes mistakes using body cues alone.
