New Tool Makes Shaky 3D Video from Phone Cameras Work Better

Researchers have a new way to fix the jumpy, inconsistent 3D images created when phones try to build depth maps from video. Instead of treating each frame separately, the method weaves them together into a smooth whole, letting ordinary smartphone footage produce usable 3D scenes without expensive cameras or studios. It has not yet been tested widely.
