Canada Plans to Build 10 New Nuclear Power Plants by 2040

Canada announced a plan on June 22, 2026, to build up to 10 new nuclear power plants over the next 15 years, with at least two starting construction by 2035. At least one must be built outside Ontario, where most of Canada's nuclear plants currently sit. Canada produces about one-quarter of the world's uranium, the fuel that powers nuclear plants, so it won't face the supply problems other countries do.
