U.S. workers' pay bought a little less than last year

Average hourly pay for all American workers bought 0.2% less in July 2026 than in July 2025, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Think of it like this: last year's hour of work filled the shopping cart a touch fuller. Pay had been up 0.1% to June. I read this as a tiny dip below zero, not a lasting slide.
