National Party delegates gathered in Wellington acknowledged a problem facing any government running for re-election: voters can turn against you more unpredictably when you're in power. Unlike 2023, when National campaigned against the government, they now own their record. Delegates sounded cautiously hopeful but recognised the real risk.
